You don’t have to be afraid of failing

We all know that this is the time of year that everyone makes resolutions to do something different.

Why is it that most people don’t ever really follow through with their resolution?

For many, besides the fact that it will generally involve going outside their comfort zone, a lot of the time they are deep down afraid of not being able to actually do what they really want to do.  They are afraid of failing.

Neil Patel described fear well in his article in Inc.

“Fear is a problem, because it can damage everything in life. It ruins your productivity, destroys your dreams, and keeps you from building the business you’re trying to build. Fear robs life of its joy.”

There are countless examples of famous people who failed miserably before they ended up becoming a success.

There’s a great article at that talk about 50 famous people who ailed before becoming a success.  some of these people mentioned in there are:

  • Henry Ford
  • Walt Disney
  • Issac Newton
  • Winston Churchill
  • Jerry Seinfeld
  • Steven Spielberg

Nothing ever goes right the first time.  Life is a whole lot of failures stacked on top one another.

People seem to be OK with the little mistakes, but with small mistakes you really only get small success.

The same principle is applied to big success – you generally need big failure before you get big success.

Many people have failed at something in the past so they are afraid that if they do it again that they will fail.  Well, if they do that EXACT same thing then yes, you likely will fail.

However, if you learn from your failure – get up and try again implementing what you have learned, then you are one step closer to success.

I love this Henry Ford quote:

So I guess the bottom line is put yourself out there, don’t be afraid to take a risk and fail, take something out of the failure and have another go.

But I challenge you to go for something big.  Put yourself out there.

I am terrible at writing.  I have a fear of people reading my articles & just hating what I write….. I’ve sucked at writing my whole life. I did the absolute basic requirement of English at high school & I dropped out of uni because I just struggled with being able to write essays.

Yet I am putting myself out there writing these posts, building my confidence up, and one day I will actually be good at it – I’ve shut myself out for so many years, it would have been easy for me to say, no, I will just stay a construction worker my whole life. But I have challenged myself to blog everyday & post it throughout the net for the whole world to see.

I’ve decided to put myself out there and make money from blogging – is it easy, well it takes me a hell of a lot longer to write my posts than most, but here you are reading my post so I must be doing something right…..  And you know what, you can make money from blogging too – and probably do it a whole lot better than me!  So just click here, fill out your details & watch the video & you will be on your way to making an online income.

Failure is just another form of learning and it’s really sad to see people take it so seriously and think they are a failure personally…

    Great topic here Alex.

There is no failure, only feedback, we must accelerate our failures in 2015 to move closer towards our success! Thanks for sharing!

Good life lesson about failure – the sooner we learn this lesson, the better!

  • Julie Syl Kalungi

I agree Alex, we must face off fear and Take massive action, a person who made a million dollars before will make it again, unless they give in to fear. It is easier to make $1million…Yes it is, Because you will have made a large amount before. Success leaves clues and if yo know the formula yo simply rinse & duplicate. Large successes go thru large failures. There is no success without failure, The sooner we face it with boldness the sooner we can all get to our desired destinations!

Wow Julie, thanks for putting so much thought into your comment.
